Roberto Vally – Tranquila

Fresh from the studio, first call contemporary jazz songwriter and session bassist Roberto Vally releases his third solo album, aptly titled “Tranquila”. Co-produced with long-time songwriting partner Jeff Carruthers and featuring guest appearances by David Benoit, Tom Schuman, Peter White and others, “Tranquila” is a reflection of Vally’s career to this point. The music is eclectic within it’s groove based structure but with enough technical prowess to not be pigeon-holed as a die-cut “smooth jazz” release. The arrangements are equally balanced between uptempo and introspective – with the global sensibilities you would expect given Vally’s resume, which includes tours around the world with the likes of Spyro Gyra, Bobby Caldwell, Boz Scaggs Michael Franks, Arturo Sandoval, Diane Schuur, Christopher Cross, Randy Crawford and many others.

Consisting of nine originals and one cover (a wistful rework of Caldwell’s “Down For The Third Time” with Vally on lead vocals), “Tranquila” delights from start to finish.

You can find this album on CDBaby.
