Carlos Camilo – On My Way

Carlos Camilo is a pianist, singer, composer and producer hailing from Cuba and currently based in Miami. At just 3 years old, Carlos Camilo began playing the piano. By the time he was 11, he was composing his own music. Today, he composes anything from smooth jazz to R&B and pop. In 2012, he released his first album titled Dim the Lights, which was a smooth jazz instrumental piano album and one he says has been his most influential.  “I like to give a positive vibe with my music, making the world a better place one song at a time,” Camilo said.

Growing up in Cuba, his music is inspired by traditional Cuban flavor mixed with American music. From an early age, Carlos Camilo knew he wanted to pursue music seriously, and has since been influenced by artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Earth Wind and Fire, Brian Culbertson, Brian McKnight, Michael Jackson, Hans Zimmer and countless others. Carlos Camilo cites his main musical influences as the people around him and his daily experiences. Most of all, though? Love.  “Love is a key player in my songs,” he said. “I’m forever intrigued and passionate about its power and how influential it is to all of us. Without love, we’re simply mechanical beings.”

Today, Carlos Camilo mainly creates Smooth Jazz, R&B, and POP. He’s released 8 albums, and multiple singles independently and had played his music all over the globe with other artists, including Spanish Latin superstar, David Bisbal, and International Salsa Singer “India”. Currently, he’s working on his own band called Carlos Camilo and the Live Dimension. All in all, Carlos Camilo hopes to make a living doing what he loves with creating music, and completely immerse himself in it. His newest project is On My Way (2021).

Michal Urbaniak – Sax Love (Vol.1)

Valentine’s Day is coming up. An excellent gift will be an album with beautiful music. Michal Urbaniak – Sax Love (Volume 1) – this is a set of lyrical love recordings. This time Michal returned to his favorite tenor saxophone, making the compositions very moody, perfect for lovers. In 2006, CD ′′ Sax Love ′′ was released for the first time – then in a million-dollar effort, together with Gazeta Wyborcza. Urbaniak’s music fans wrote emails and letters. They thanked for the record, told how their feeling blossomed with this music. They asked when the record will be available at the store. Michal fulfilled their wish and offers since 2020 the album Sax Love (Vol.1) at his shop.

And the best one at last, he returns February 2021 with his new album Sax Love (Vol. 2). His shop will be hopefully updated soon.

Vincent Ioia – No Time Like Now

Vincent Ioia’s emergence onto the urban jazz scene with his explosive and infectious track “First Time” – the lead single from the New York based saxophonist’s album No Time Like Now – is testament to the healing power of music and a reminder that, once an artist’s passion takes root, his dreams can only be set aside for so long. For many musicians as talented and versatile as Vincent, finally finding time to devote to launching a career not only as a professional musician but a bonafide artist after a 30 year career as an Information Technology professional and C-level executive on Wall Street would be the compelling story all by itself – especially considering the contemporary jazz powerhouses he’s now working with.  Ioia, who began playing guitar and sax in his mid-teens, is collaborating on No Time Like Now with Ricky Peterson, Gerey Johnson and, Bill Heller.

Now, almost 8 years after much troubles and 6 years after his first album No Time Like Now, Vincent is back writing, playing and in the studio again.  “COVID has afforded me an opportunity to focus on my music once again and you will be seeing some great music coming out soon including my newest release, A Self Portrait.

Lincoln Adler – Tabula Rasa

Since my review about Lincoln Adler’s album Grateful ten years have passed. A period that changes people and sometimes also their music. Of course, one cannot shed one’s past like a cloak. Experiences, abilities, influences, origins continue to shape you. But one can try to renew oneself. In case of saxophonist Lincoln Adler, this attempt is called Tabula Rasa.

The Latin expression tabula rasa (tabula “board” and rasa “scraped”, radere “scraped”) originally referred to a wax-covered writing board that was smoothed by scraping off the writing and can be rewritten like a blank sheet of paper. Figuratively, it means clearing the air and starting from scratch.

Lincoln Adler ventures a new beginning with a fresh band consisting of Erik Jekabson (trumpet, flugelhorn), Mike Blankenship (keyboards), Scott Thompson (bass) and Aaron Green (drums). Tabula Rasa is a digital EP with five tracks, all written and arranged by Lincoln with the except of the cover Red Clay.

Michael Lington – Alone Together

When 2020 began, Michael Lington was eagerly looking forward to many wonderful events – the impending birth of his son Landon, touring again with his fellow saxophone stars Vincent Ingala and Paul Taylor as Sax to the Max, and numerous European solo dates. Then COVID-19 hit, and the resulting lockdown scrambled everything. Prevented from hitting the road, Lington quickly turned his home studio into one of contemporary jazz’s premiere virtual performance destinations, with a popular ongoing series of weekly shows on the StageIt platform.

In a year like no other, the pandemic has wreaked havoc with our health, the economy and our day to day lives – but with the release of his latest recording Alone Together (Peak Records) the innovative artist and his array of musical friends remind us it can’t stop the flow of creativity and determination to bring fans together to experience a collective joy like no other.

“Alone Together is a unique project that presented itself in many shapes and forms,” Lington says. “When the pandemic started and all my touring was postponed indefinitely, I knew I needed to continue creating music for my own well-being. It was more a matter of my mental health than financial survival. I didn’t want to sit around feeling stagnant and unproductive.

In addition to the opportunity for fans to once again experience favorite warm-hearted and transcendent moments of the StageIt shows, the tracks on Alone Together allow everyone to revisit some of the most compelling original and cover songs from Lington’s multi-faceted 20-plus year solo discography. Opening with a rousing version of the first radio single “Baker Street” featuring Javier Colon, the set includes “Everything Must Change” feat. Chris Walker , “Gonna Love You Tonight” feat. Kenny Lattimore, “My Love” feat. Dave Koz , “Some Kinda Way feat. Sy Smith, and “Slick” feat. Brian Culbertson. Lington also fires up a dynamic horn conversation with superstar saxman Boney James on Boney’s #1 hit “Up All Night.”

Alone Together is scheduled for release March 26, 2021.
