Fahrenheit 702 – Gettin’ In The Game Vol.1
African American producer, composer, bassist, keyboard player Greg “GR” Radford is the originator of the band Fahrenheit 702. He was also a member and writer for The Fantasy Band with Chuck Loeb, Marion Meadows and John Lee.
Greg also composed and arranged songs for Jon Lucien, Kanye West, LaToya Jackson and Curtis Hairston. Now the debut album from Fahrenheit 702 has arrived here, a smooth jazz album centered around Las Vegas, and this collective band consists of: Keith Marlo (saxophones & lead vocal), Michael Hennigan (guitar), James “JD” Davis (guitar), John Wedemeyer (guitar, acoustic guitar), Ronnie Foster (organ), Walter Jones (bass), Greg Radford (keyboards, piano, bass, synth bass, drum programming, percussion and backing vocals), Mike Clark (acoustic piano), Sennie “Skip” Martin (muted trumpet), Diane Spann – Radford (keyboards, piano, synth bass, drum programming and backing vocals), Serena Henry (lead vocals, backing vocals), Princetta Saray (lead vocals), Ines Zak (backing vocals), Tyriq Johnson (backing vocals), Andrew Burnett (backing vocals) and Tristan Bindner (intro vocals). Greg Radford composed all but two tracks and produced the album.
The single ‘Can’t Step Away’ opens in a cheerful, funky atmosphere, followed by ‘The Big Parlay’. ‘Papa’s Piece’ sounds soft, and the title track floats on a mid-tempo. In ‘Suite 2069’ we relax, while you can dance the funk to ‘Funk-N-Tha 702’. ‘I Wanna Get Closer’ is a beautiful and pleasant track, after which the blues rears its head with ‘No More Money Blues’. Then the funk resurfaces on the relaxed ‘Let It Ride’, after which we hop over to Brazil to the sounds of ‘Badu Aay (Keepin’ it Rio)’. “Two for One” closes with a romantic ballad.
