Fabio Mignola – Encantado

Suisse based guitarist Fabio Mignola has released a lot of albums with diverse styles in his solo career. Chitarra Ticinese (1999), Flor de Luna (2000), Flyin’ Away (2003), Luna Rossa (2005), Take Me Higher (2008) are to mention. His new one, Encantado was released in September, 2018.

Fabio has composed all songs and performs guitars, keyboards, accordion, programming and vocals. Additional vocalists are Sofia Vassere and Laura Pura. Ezio Della Torre plays flute on selected tracks.

First warm up of the album is the uplifting Cheer Up. To put it bluntly, Fabio brings it directly to the point of happiness. Tucano is the Italian name of a bird family. Fabio transforms it into a lively festival of joy.

Fabio Mignola studied his instrument with professor Dante Brenna and with further virtuosos like Alberto Ponce, Alexander Rodrigues and Ralph Towner. His solo albums mirror his diverse styles and influences. In 1999 he released Chitarra Ticinese, solo guitar arrangements of folk songs, followed by Flor de Luna (2000), a collection of auxiliary solo recordings. His first step into the contemporary jazz genre was the album Flyin’ Away (2003), which was compared with the music of Peter White and Acoustic Alchemy. Neapolitan jazz is to hear on his album Luna Rossa (2005). His next album Take Me Higher (2008) received high acclaims by many Internet critics of the smooth jazz realm.

His new album Encantado (2018) is a unique blend of Smooth Jazz with Brazilian flavors and rhythms with lush harmonies performed by a impassioned guitarist.

Fabio Mignola – Take Me Higher

Born in Locarno, Switzerland, an eclectic cultural environment with a strong Italian heritage, Fabio Mignola was fascinated by the intricate harmonies and rhythms of the various forms of folk and classical music that surrounded him. The simplistic beauty of the acoustic guitar quickly became the voice of this passionate musician.

After studying for several years with professor Dante Brenna, he graduated from Conservatory Donizetti in Bergamo in 1991. Mignola immersed himself in guitar studies and master classes with virtuosos like Alberto Ponce, Alexandre Rodrigues and Ralph Towner. Later on he was inspired by the spontaneity of jazz and the visual complexities of impressionism.This pursuit of music without boundaries led to solo recordings and many productive partnerships.

As a highly respected freelance musician, Mignola has also worked extensively on radio, television, soundtracks. With Take Me Higher Fabio offers mediterranean guitar  smooth jazz with Brazilian, Caribbean and funky influences. The album is available at CDBaby.
