Stephanie Urquhart Quartet – Concealment

Known for her imaginative and genuine writing, Stephanie Urquhart is an Edmonton-based jazz pianist and composer quickly gaining an international presence and recognition having been featured at numerous venues and festivals such as the Earshot Jazz Festival, Yardbird Festival of Canadian Jazz, and the TD Edmonton International Jazz Festival. She was selected to present her works at the 2019 International Jazz Composers’ Symposium (IJCS) at the University of Northern Colorado, as well as the 2017 IJCS at the University of South Florida. Her works were also performed by the Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra in Seattle, Washington in 2017 as the Honourable Mention of the 5th Annual Jazz Composition Contest for Women Composers.

Stephanie is also making way with Big Bands in North America both as a performer and a composer. She has worked and performed with Edmonton groups River City Big Band, Yardbird Suite Jazz Orchestra, Don Berner Big Band and MacEwan University Alumni Big Band. Beyond the borders, Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra and Montclair Women’s Big Band in San Francisco are also performing her originals.

Concealment is the debut release from Edmonton-based pianist and composer Stephanie Urquhart. The album features Stephanie Urquhart on piano, Peter Zawalski on guitar, Josh McHan on bass, Joel Jeschke on drums, and Mallory Chipman on vocals.
