Christopher “CJ” Johnson – Sunset Songs

Based in Los Angeles, Christopher “CJ” Johnson is an alto saxophonist specializing in heartfelt smooth jazz. His first single is a cover of Ed Sheeran’s 2016 Song of the Year, “Thinking Out Loud.” This instrumental version was produced by Gaku Murata and has been played on 45 radio stations across the U.S. and U.K. It’s available on iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, and Spotify, and can also be downloaded for free on his website.

CJ was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. After high school, he fled the cold winters of the Midwest for the warmth of the South, where he earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in ballet from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He also studied saxophone there. He danced professionally with Ballet Austin, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the San Francisco cast of The Phantom of the Opera. He now plays music with the Palmer Jazz Project, The Crew, and other groups in Los Angeles. And he has performed as an opening act for saxophonists Marion Meadows and Paul Taylor, at Santa Anita Park racetrack in Arcadia, California.

On his new EP Sunset Songs he offers heartfelt smooth-jazz saxophone in the style of David Sanborn, Dave Koz and Kenny G. Taste it at CDBaby.
