Doug Markley – 90 Degrees

Doug Markley started playing lap steel guitar at the age of 7. He recorded 4 spiritual albums with the Joe Clemmer Band, a local music store owner in the Philadelphia suburbs. He formed the band “Elysian Fields” in high school. Then joined the rock band “Cagney” from Blackwood, New Jersey. He went to the University of Miami School of Music for 4 years. Doug took sight reading lessons from Pat Metheney there. Other students at the time included Bruce Hornsby, Jaco Pastorius, and Steve Morse.

Doug’s father died and he moved back to Philadelphia where he started the Markley Band, an original jazz fusion band. All the tunes played by the band were written by Doug. At that time, the late seventies, jazz fusion was a new music form in the area. The band knocked down a lot of doors to play in rock and disco clubs.

The Markley Band has performed thousands of shows and concerts and has performed with Robert Cray, Rick Derringer, Spyra Gyra, Stanley Jordan, Larry Coryell, and Jeff Lorber, to name a few.

Doug’s melodic tunes have been used for numerous radio and television shows across the country and continue to be sought after for commercial use. If you listen to the radio or watch television you have undoubtedly heard his music.Doug continues to play and record music for his fans all over the world. He lives with his family outside of Philadelphia.

90 Degrees is Doug newest album and now on sale at CDBaby.
