Andrew Neu – Try Something Neu

Philadelphia based Andrew Neu is as sax player, composer and arranger a constant factor in the local music scene. He performed with Elton John, Patti LaBelle, Mellissa Manchester, Mel Torme, Malcom-Jamal Warner, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Bobby Caldwell, Gerald Veasley among others. He has also recorded with Sister Sledge, Manhattan Transfer and jazz legend Buddy DeFranco.

He started his solo career with the album Inspire (2000), produced by Brian Bromberg, followed by In Clear View (2007) and this year Try Something Neu. Andrew’s third album is co-produced by Brian Bromberg, Chuck Loeb and Gerald Veasley and features guest-musicians Brian Bromberg, Chuck Loeb, Bobby Caldwell, Dan Siegel, Gerald Veasley, Dave Kochanski and more.

Neu is the German word for new and also the name of this gifted sax player. For the starting song Chez Cool Andrew Neu invited famous guitarist Chuck Loeb. A great flowing interplay lets both shine.

Kirk Whalum – The Christmas Message

When you still search a good Christmas album, then visit Kirk Whalum’s blog. Although his The Christmas Message was already released in 2001, it’s still of timeless beauty.  Attending one of his concerts one immediately remarks his spiritual influences. He is true to the sound of his work and to his religious heritage. When Kirk plays a Christmas hymn,  you feel the spirit of Christmas.

Kevin Peter Jones – Magnetic Journey

One of Washington, D.C.’s most refreshing new talents, Kevin Peter Jones,  released his long awaited debut-album, Magnetic Journey on Tuesday September 29, 2009 on Sakestyle Entertainment. It is with good reason that Kevin has been on the rise since the journey to complete this project started in 2005. Known for his ability to blend a variety of musical genres and styles, he has produced an eclectic yet cohesive sonic experience, Kevin Peter Jones meticulously hand selected each song for this album project.

Exclusively produced by Kevin Peter Jones Magnetic Journey includes an all star cast of songwriters including Dave Grusin, Russell Ferrante, St. Louis Jimmy Oden, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Mike Miller, Michel Camilo and Dave Weckl to create a truly inspiring album. J Sylvester – Inside Out

J Sylvester explores the Contemporary Jazz field in his first ever debut CD Inside Out under PobamMusic LLC, one of the most soul-filled, upcoming neo-jazz saxophonists. He was inspired by such saxophonists like Johnny Griffin, Dexter Gordon, Stanley Turrentine, Hank Crawford, Grover Washington Jr., David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, and Everett Harp. J Sylvester’s has worked hard to establish a style of his own. His CD Inside Out exudes his passion from the first track to the last. Audiences are going to be easily seduced by the tone of his instrument.

He learned from such saxophonists as the legendary Fred Ford (Founder of PobamMusic), Dr. Bill Heard, Donald Hayes,  Pat Register, Rock Williams and Rod Allen. He would later go on to learn from local jazz guitarist Marlon Branch and keyboardist Tony Black.

J Sylvester moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Houston, Texas to further advance his career as a professional saxophonist.  Since his arrival to Houston, J. Sylvester has the honor of performing on stages of Scott Gertner’s Skybar, The Red Cat Jazz Café, 57 West and Grooves Restaurant and Lounge and performing with local musicians such as the incomparable Kyle Turner, Dean James, and The Joe Carmouche Band.
